A 36-yr old Bulgarian woman was seriously injured when she was struck by two vehicles within moments on Tuesday morning. The woman, a permanent resident of Sotira, was walking along the Paralimni to Sotira road when she was clipped by the wing mirror of a passing vehicle.

According to a Famagusta Police spokesperson, at around 6am this morning the woman was struck by a vehicle driven by a 29yr old from Paralimni. After realising that the woman had been hit he reversed to where she had been struck to check on her - whilst reversing he saw another vehicle heading towards the woman. The second vehicle, driven by a 51-year-old from Liopetri, then struck the woman who had been kneeling injured in the road at the time.

The two drivers alerted the police and ambulance service and the woman was eventually taken to the Emergency Department of the Famagusta General Hospital. According to the doctor on duty she suffered multiple fractures and was in a serious but stable condition.

The police conducted alcohol tests on both drivers which were negative - from the initial investigation it was determined that both men were driving their vehicles at a low speed.

It was noted that at the time of the accident the street lights were off and the visibility, due to the darkness, was quite limited.

The case is being investigated by officers at the Paralimni Police Station.
