Cyprus based airline, Cobalt, has announced that it will operate year round flights between Dublin and Larnaca. The airline had been running a twice weekly service between July and September which it started in 2016.

Welcoming the announcement, Dublin Airport Managing Director Vincent Harrison said “Dublin-Larnaca was one of Colbalt Air’s first routes and today’s announcement that the route will be a year round service is testament to its success and popularity."

A Cobalt Air spokesman said the airline was pleased to launch Dublin for Winter 2017. “This continues our commitment to the Irish market which has flocked to Cyprus in record numbers this summer. Irish visitors can look forward to a wider range of onward connections from Larnaca, including Tel Aviv so there’s never been a better time to book a flight on Cobalt Air.”

Cobalt was the first Cyprus-based airline to begin operations since Cyprus Airways ceased flying in January 2015. Using a low-cost model and former staff from the defunct Cyprus Airways, it has been operating on an increasing number of international routes since its launch over a year ago. Whilst still a relatively new player in the Cyprus market it has seen growing demand despite some initial teething problems.
