Three Turkish men have been detained after attempting to travel to Germany from Larnaca airport on Monday with forged Turkish passports and fake visas.

The three men were detained after trying to travel to Germany with their families – including six children — when during passport control it was discovered that some of the documents were forged while the rest contained fake visas.

Cyprus police said that a family of four were travelling with fake passports while another eight people had presented fake visas.

Police are expected to take the three men into custody while the three women and six children accompanying them will be put up in a hotel in Larnaca pending the investigation.

Larnaca CID will send the case files to the Legal Services for further consideration.
