Tourist arrivals in May 2017 reached 418,732 compared to 364,943 in May 2016, showing an increase of 14.7%.
May 2017 arrivals were the highest ever recorded for the same month.
United Kingdom arrivals increased by 19.5% in May 2017 compared to May 2016, while there was also a 0.3% increase in arrivals from Russia. There were also increases from other key markets, such as Germany (+54.9%) and Israel (+92.9%).
Contrarily, there was a 6.4% decrease in arrivals from Greece.
The United Kingdom and Russia are the key sources of tourism for Cyprus in May 2017, taking 37% and 25.8% of total arrivals, while arrivals from Germany take 5% and Israel 4.9%.
The main purpose of travel in May 2017 for 84.5% of total arrivals was holidays, followed by 8.7% for family and friend visits. For 6.6% of arrivals the purpose of travel was business.
