Two killed in Limassol traffic incidents

Two people have died in separate traffic incidents in Limassol in the early hours of Friday morning.

According to the traffic police, the first occurred at around 4.45am on the old Limassol-Moni road when a saloon car appeared to have veered into the opposite lane and collided with a pickup truck.

The saloon’s driver, who police have still to disclose the name of, was killed instantly.

The road was closed after the accident as police investigations into its exact circumstances continue.

The second accident happened in the centre of Limassol at around 7am.

According to the information at hand, an elderly man, whose name and age has also yet to be released by the police, was hit by a car as he attempted to cross Makarios Avenue by the Ariel traffic lights.

Investigations into the circumstances of this accident are also underway.
