DEMETRIS Andreou, 22, was sentenced to nine months in prison by the Paphos district court on Friday for dangerous driving which led to a young soldier’s death four years ago.

His driving licence was also revoked for 18 months.

The fatal crash occurred in Paphos on May 10, 2013, when Andreas Arestis, an 18-year-old national guardsman was killed when the car in which he was a passenger struck a mound and flipped over. The driver, Demetris Andreou, also 18 at the time, lost control of the vehicle on the Kalepia to Polemi road in the Paphos district, swerving left and right before hitting a mound...
