Residents of Peyia are set to benefit from a brand new ambulance station, which opens this month.

Authorities say that over the years many lives have been lost due to time it takes for ambulances to reach Peyia from Paphos.

The decision has been welcomed by locals and the large expat community in the town.

It will be located in the centre of the village, just below the police station and in the same block of houses as the fire station.

The station is expected to begin operations on January 19th.
