Education, Culture, Sports and Youth Minister Prodromos Prodromou has expressed the government’s concern that the opening of the fenced-off area of Famagusta for commercial exploitation will endanger archaeological sites and unique historic and church monuments of immeasurable value.

Speaking before the 41st session of the UNESCO General Conference in Paris, the Μinister said the organisation’s 75th anniversary coincides with Cyprus’ 60th anniversary of accession into UNESCO and pledged the island’s dedication to UNESCO’s priorities.
