A cafeteria in Nicosia was fined €16,000 for failing to check customers for a SafePass, as part of daily checks for coronavirus measures that saw eight more businesses and 21 individuals booked, police said on Wednesday.

During the checks in the capital, a supermarket was also fined €8,000 for allowing an employee to work without a SafePass. Another business was fined, as well as four people after 1,039 checks.

The checks constitute about a third of the nationwide inspections which amounted to 2,909 and were carried out between 6am on Tuesday and 6am on Wednesday.
