Woman arrested after being caught drunk driving...

Police on Tuesday evening arrested a woman after she was caught driving drunk on the wrong side of the Nicosia – Limassol motorway, nearly caused an accident and assaulted a police officer, they said.

Shortly before 10.30pm, a police officer who was off duty and on his way home in his car, saw a 49-year-old woman driving towards him in the wrong direction of the motorway near Polemidia.

The officer avoided colliding with the vehicle, while the woman stopped her car on the spot and ran away on foot on the motorway.

He managed to stop and arrest her after she attacked him, police reported.
