Limassol police arrested seven people overnight after a group of people injured police officers and set a car and rubbish bins on fire during a demonstration that turned violent.

Hundreds of people gathered at 7pm to protest recent coronavirus measures and corruption.

The protest, which had been organised via social media, began in the Enaerios area and made its way to the sea front.

At one point, around 100 hooded people split from the group of protesters and started throwing stones and flares at police in the area and setting fire to rubbish bins.
