Police across Cyprus are looking into a string of armed robberies that were committed in Nicosia and Limassol in the last 24 hours.

A police official has confirmed that the latest armed robbery took place at 5am on Nikis Avenue in Nicosia when a man walked into Pandora Bakery holding a knife and threatened the employee to giving him the cash in the register, said to be €150.

On Thursday afternoon in Nicosia, an eatery owner said that a man walked into her establishment and asked for a sandwich. As the woman began making his sandwich, the man grabbed her purse that was in her bag – which contained the cash sum of €100 and a gold crucifix said to be worth €300.

The woman – who managed to see what he did – attempted to stop him but the assailant pushed her to the ground and escaped.

In the early hours if Thursday morning in Limassol, a man wearing a motorcycle helmet and brandishing a hatchet entered a kiosk on October 28 Street and walked straight to the cash register where he proceeded to take €100 from the cash register before walking out.
