The Municipality of Paphos has taken delivery of the first electric bus in Cyprus plus the related charging station.
According to an announcement by the Municipality of Paphos, the vehicle, with a total cost of approximately 260,000 euros, has a capacity of 22 people with provisions for people with disabilities and the first test routes will begin immediately.
The bus, will run on special "green routes" designed specifically to highlight the city's cultural and historical monuments and will be free to the public, locals and tourists alike.
It will pass through the main streets and attractions of the traditional historical center of the city, as well as the archeological sites of Kato Paphos the statement added.
The bus was procured following a tender under the ECOROUTS project, which is being implemented under the Interreg VA Cooperation Program "Greece - Cyprus 2014-2020", with a total budget of € 1,262,200.00, of which € 336,000 is earmarked for the Municipality of Paphos. The Municipalities of Heraklion, Chania and Aradippou also participate in the project.
