Tougher lock down measures in Turkish-held north

Turkish Cypriot authorities are imposing tougher measures to contain the spread of coronavirus.

A total of 88 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in northern Cyprus. Two have died. No new positive cases have been recorded in the past 24 hours.

Under the new measures which come into effect from midnight tonight, movement between the districts is prohibited whereas entry to Lapithos and Karavas will be subject to police controls.

Workers in essential services and security are excluded.
