Paphos police spot improvised bomb

Police officers in Paphos prevented a potentially serious incident when they spotted an improvised bomb on Saturday night.

Following information, the officers spotted the improvised device - ready for use, together with other items in an open space in Gialia, Paphos district.

Gialia is a village in the Paphos District of Cyprus, located 11 km northeast of Polis Chrysochous and situated in between Argaka and Agia Marina.

The home made bomb and other items were later taken away for further investigation by the police.


The improvised device was found in a paper package, which also contained an igniting fuse, two woollen hats and two hand-held lighting devices.

Further investigations linked two men, 53 and 29, to the objects and the two men were subsequently arrested.
