A fine of €500 for breaching personal data laws was imposed on a jeweller’s shop for installing cameras which were able to record the movement of staff and visitors at a neighbouring café in Nicosia, it emerged on Monday.

In a ruling, the administrative court supported the view of the personal data protection commissioner that installing the video surveillance system outside the jeweller’s breached the law.
