The recent revelation, which was revealed in Phileleftheros on Tuesday, is just one of a number of scandals to hit the health sector .
Meanwhile, Auditor General Odysseas Michaelides and the Legal Services are busy investigating another ten cases concerning suspicious referrals of patients to private clinics and to medical institutes abroad.
Some doctors are also under investigation for abusing working hours and for unnecessarily drafting doctors from abroad to Cyprus.
All the doctors in question work in the state sector.
The dossiers have been prompted by a flood of complaints following the arrest of two doctors who were recently arrested by police on suspicion of earning illegal kickbacks.
The health system in Cyprus is also reeling from the industrial dispute between the state and nurses over future plans and Health Minister George Pamboridis’ ambitious National Health Scheme plans.
