Emergency services at Larnaca Airport were put on alert on Sunday afternoon after a flight from Thessaloniki reported technical problems.

A Cobalt aircraft on the Thessaloniki-Larnaca route, flight COB725, issued a warning about half an hour before eventually landing normally at Larnaca.

According to reports in local media the alarm was raised after the aircraft's electronic systems indicated a problem with the plane's navigation system. The pilot of the aircraft immediately informed the Larnaca Airport Control Tower and took all necessary actions to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.

Hermes Airports and the Civil Aviation Department took appropriate measures to handle the incident, whilst police, fire and civil defence forces were put on alert.

The aircraft finally landed at Larnaca Airport at around 17:05 where the plane was inspected and repairs undertaken.
