The Famagusta (Ammochostos) District has the lowest number of serious crimes recorded and highest overall detection rate according to the latest crime statistics made available by police.
The data reveals that the Famagusta District had 219 serious crimes recorded in the first six months of 2017 and a detection rate of over 72%.
Famagusta was followed in second place by the Larnaca District, with the Limassol District recording the highest number of serious crimes at 727.
Overall police solved 61.67% of the cases recorded in the first half of 2017, a very slight improvement on the same period in 2016 according to statistical data compiled by the Cyprus Statistics Office.
The statistics below are by district and include the detection rate with the police classing the following as serious offences:
Murder, Attempted Murder, Burglary, Theft, Rape, Attempted Rape, Arson, Robbery & Extortion, Drugs, Explosions and other serious offences.
