If you have a love of dogs and would like a bit more exercise after the festive period then why not combine the two and help out a local good cause?
The Paralimni Dog Pound is desperately looking for volunteers to help with the enormous task of looking after the districts abandoned dogs.
At present a small number of volunteers go every single day to the dog pound to feed, clean and walk the unfortunate but loveable dogs. Even though the dedicated team work tirelessly the dogs are still confined for 23 hours per day.
Can you help by walking a dog and giving a little TLC? It's great exercise for both parties and extremely rewarding to see the difference that is being made to the dogs. Plus did we mention that on an average dog walk you can burn 205 calories?
Perhaps you are unable to walk the dogs but still want to get involved? The often affectionate but nervous dogs need cleaning, feeding and generally just shown some love so that they can gain confidence and trust again.
If you would like to support the group and their selfless efforts, but are not in the area, then you can still be part of this great little community. Donations of items to make the dogs lives a little easier are more than welcomed by the group as are financial donations.
Volunteers meet between 07:45am to 10:30am daily at the Paralimni Dog Pound which is located in the council yard next to Home & Wood in Paralimni.
Alternatively you can visit and contact them through their Facebook page here: Paralimni Dog Pound
If you can spare a few hours per week to make the dogs lives more bearable then it would be more than welcomed.
