The Cyprus Meteorological Department are predicting a damp Christmas for Cyprus this year with snow in the mountains on Christmas Eve likely.
According to the latest forecast, during the Christmas period, Cyprus will see increased cloud and unsettled weather with localised showers.
Tonight the weather will be mostly cloudy with local light rains a possibility. The temperature will drop to 12’C inland, around 15’C on the coasts and 7’C in the higher regions.
Tomorrow the weather will mostly be cloudy with isolated rain showers. The winds will be moderate to strong 4 to 5 beauforts. The temperature will rise to 19’C inland and on the coast with 12’C in the higher regions.
Tomorrow night the weather will continue to be mostly cloudy with isolated rains.
On Saturday the weather again will mostly be cloudy with occasional rain mostly in the west.
On Sunday local rains or even isolated storms are expected, with snow falling on the highest mountain areas.
Monday is expected to start with local showers or even a storm soon but the weather will improve. The temperature will fall from Sunday onwards.
Currently in Troodos there is a distinct lack of snow which is a marked difference from December 2016 as the images from the SkiCyprus webcam below clearly show:
