Cyprus based airline, Cobalt, has announced that it will shortly be releasing its new online booking system.

The current system has had some technical issues that have resulted in problems with online check in and inability to process bookings during busy periods.

In an email sent by Cobalt it states:
"We would like to inform you that we are launching a new state of the art reservations system this weekend. Cobalt is working with Sabre Global Airline Solutions Inc., a world leading IT provider from the USA. For our customers, the new system will provide a more stable and efficient booking process along with new functionality such as the ability to manage bookings online.

The new system will also enable Cobalt to better connect to travel agents and to other airlines. Soon Cobalt aims to offer its customers more choice and flexibility by offering connecting fares to a variety of global destinations.

CEO Andrew Madar commented:
“The new Sabre reservations system is another demonstration of Cobalt’s mission to provide a great customer experience at a reasonable price. Over time this system will also allow us to offer customers a wider choice of destinations via interline and codeshare partnerships; as well as an increasing level of functionality. In the new year we also plan to add a mobile app to meet the growing demand for connectivity on the move.”

The transition to the new system will mean that Cobalt.Aero and the airline’s Call Centre will be off-line until Saturday afternoon, December 2nd.

Cobalt was the first Cyprus-based airline to begin operations since Cyprus Airways ceased flying in January 2015. Using a low-cost model and former staff from the defunct Cyprus Airways, it has been operating on an increasing number of international routes since its launch over a year ago. Whilst still a relatively new player in the Cyprus market it has seen growing demand from customers by offering low prices and regular special offers.
